Hi! I'm Thomas.
I'm Thomas Nazworth and my fursona is a lion. I've been doing taxes for the last 12 years! I'm a licensed CPA in the state of California, but don't worry; I can still help you out anywhere in the United States. You can learn more about me and set up an introductory meeting with the contact form in the site footer below.
How I Can Help
The major thing that I can offer is an actual person to talk to. I'm here for my clients and always attempt to respond within one business day (I try not to work on weekends for my own sanity). As I tell my clients, if I haven't responded within a day, poke me about it.
What's A CPA?
A CPA is someone who is licensed by the state they live/work in to do a number of accounting jobs. In my case, getting my license essentially required a master's degree in accounting and passing a four part, 16 hour exam. It's probably a little easier than the bar exam that lawyers have to take, but still has about a 50% pass rate. CPAs can do all kinds of work, but I specialize in individual and small business taxation, small business bookkeeping/CFO work, and making sure my fellow furs are taken care of.

FAQ
"How long have you been in the fandom?"
I’ve been on the outskirts of the fandom for many years, but had barely met any other furries or thought about cons and ref sheets. That changed during the pandemic. I was starved for contact and watching dance comps and other con uploads helped me feel more connected to furrydom. After lockdowns were lifted, I was able to interact more with the fandom. Even though I haven’t been able to go to a con yet, I’m looking forward to it!
"How did you become an accountant?"
At first, I took the H and R Block tax prep course for a good way to earn a little money in my last undergraduate spring semester. I quickly learned that I had an affinity for that sort of work and it was absolutely fascinating. I earned a degree in acting, but loved taxation. I was face-to-face with the old theatre adage, “If you can see yourself doing anything else, do it." After working with H and R Block for three years seasonally and teaching classes to prospective employees, I went back to college to graduate with my masters in accounting. Now I pretty much love everything to do with accounting, not just taxation.
"How does technology affect your practice?"
Technology has become more of a coworker than a tool. We do not use technology in accounting the way we did 20 years ago; working with it is crucial to the field. From something as simple as making a small spreadsheet to retrieving client reports, technology is the path to move present-day accountants forward. It's a little bittersweet that the days of the green bond ledger paper have gone.
I don't use AI in my work.
In its current state, AI is an echo of humanity and as we know about echoes, they are not quite as strong as robust as what created them. AI accounting will continue to be pervasive and could have uses eventually, but as a professor of mine said, the thing that computers cannot do is have professional judgement. There will always be variables in someone's situation that will not fit neatly into an algorithm; that's why having a person on your side will be helpful.
